The 3M™ 6000 Series Gas/Vapor filters are equipped with bayonet type fittings to attach them to a wide range of 3M™ half and full face respirators. However, there is often a need to protect against particulates in the air simultaneously. To accomplish this double protection the 501 Filter Retainer and the 502 Filter Adaptor enable the user to attach a suitable particulate filter to the 6000 Series filters.

The 501 Filter Retainer holds the particulate filters onto the 6000 Series gas/vapor filter to provide the user with a combination of particulate/gas/vapor protection.
